UAE

Dar Al Huqooq has successfully represented the Government of Fujairah in international proceedings against a major petroleum carrier. We claimed compensation amounting to USD 200,000,000 for a large oil spill and were successful in having the contaminated area cleaned and obtained satisfactory compensation for the environmental and material damages that occurred.

Dar Al Huqooq has assisted one of the Emirates of the UAE to put together the legal framework needed for commencing exploration and production activities, including negotiating and signing of Oil and Gas contracts and other ancillary agreements. Recently, Dar Al Huqooq commenced arbitration on behalf of one of the Emirates of the UAE against an International Oil Company. This culminated in an Award by Consent with the IOC agreeing to pay a sum of USD 6.8 million.
